FIBA Europe made a new addition to its staff recently, when former international player Yannick Souvré joined the organisation as Marketing Manager.

Souvré hung up her playing boots following the 2002/2003 season after spending 10 years with French club Bourges. Her honours included 6 French Championships, 1 Ronchetti Cup and 3 EuroLeague Women titles. As well as playing in one of Europe’s most dominant club sides, Souvré captained the French national team, leading them to European Championship silver in 1999 and gold in 2001.

Following her retirement, Souvré remained with Bourges as Marketing Manager, as well as working for the French Basketball Federation’s Communications Department, before joining FIBA Europe in November.

“It was very difficult for me to leave Bourges, but the offer from FIBA Europe was one that I could not pass up,” said Souvré.

“FIBA Europe is a new organisation and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

“I’m delighted to have Yannick at FIBA Europe,” said Executive Director Mr. Nar Zanolin.

“She was a great player, but more importantly I believe she will be a very valuable addition to our staff in an area that is vital to our growth.”
