Interview...

Christian Gout: Dear Vedrana, happy to be back in the French League?.... Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: I was looking forward to come back in France. I liked the idea to play again in Valenciennes, were I had spent two good and succesfull seasons and were I made friends, I was happy to see all them again!... It's a big difference to play in St Amand (instead of Hainaut at Valenciennes)? Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: Today, Union
Hainaut is a new team and we have to share emotions and the atmosphere
of the games with two towns and all the supporters. What do you think about the level of the French League?... It looks like it's more homogeneous, with Tarbes, Villeneuve d'Ascq and others more competitive?... Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: This season even more then before the championship is very interesting. There is a balance between the teams and there is no easy game. That makes all teams close until now!.... |

Bourges starts very well..... They can be considered as favourite for the French title.... Do you think Union Hainaut can beat them this season?.... Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: Bourges started the season very strong and they are playing constant. It is definitly a big chalenge to beat them, but today we have to work on our team offense, that is our main problem until now. If we speak about Croatia... Do
you follow the Adriatic league? You are more Cibona or Partizan (Zagreb),
or KK (Split)?....
Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: I am supporting the team of K.K. Split, team from my town. That is team with a big history, like Bourges and Valenciennes in women basketball. They won many european and national titles and I just lovi 't to see Toni Kukoc and Dino Rada playing. There are several very strong
croatian women players, but there is not big Croatian team in women
basketball in Croatia to be able to win Women Euroleague?... Why?...
The sponsors only support men?
Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: In Croatia there is no big interest for women basketball. Financially, man basketball is more important and because of that basketball federation also supports that side. If the girls can have the same support, women basketball can go far!... |
Last thing, what is the best thing we can wish you for this season?.... Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: We are couple weeks from Christmas and New Year. I would like to spend nice Christmas with family and I want to have a happy, loved, blest 2009. Wish me and my team-mates great second half of the season!

Vedrana, you have travelled a lot playing in many different countries, from Bresil to Russia via Poland, Greece, USA, Spain, Italy...Croatia of course... I would like to ask you the Top 5 of the places you have the most enjoyed! Vedrana Grgin Fonseca: From every county and teams I have nice memories. But definitely the best time I had in Brasil. I lived moments that I will remember forever. Here in France I made my european carrier. I chose France because the championship is strong and very competitive. With Bourges and Valenciennes I played final fours and I won the national titles. I am playing my 6th season in France this year, so I can say that here is my second home!... |
Thanks Vedrana!... Wishing you All the Best for 2009!.... |
